26 July 2005 mumbai rains

This is one of the otherwise busy lane of Mumbai, Mumbai the financial capital of India.
Mumbai city is saucer shaped so when heavy rains hits, the low lying areas get accumulated and results in such kind of loss of life and money.
Another reason for this phenomenon is that during past few decades inflow of people from other states in the city were accomodated by building more apartments, colonies, row houses, chawls, huts and zuggies most of which were illegal partially or fully. Mumbai never got an opportunity to grow as per town planning, the drainaige system which was designed for a comparatively less number of occupants has to handle occupants in multiples to its capacity which gets chocked and results are seen.
People should understand that green pasture can be produced where there is a strong will and running behind it leads to nowhere. Administration should improve the drainage and avoid 26 July 2005 incident.
